Alaska Airlines have just announced they will open two new routes from Los Angeles to Costa Rica starting October 31, 2015.
Alaska Airlines is the seventh largest domestic airline in the US and currently flies to Canada and Mexico.
From 31 October, they plan to offer four flights a week from Los Angeles to San José (SJO) Juan Santamaría International Airport.
From 1 November, they plan to offer four flights a week from Los Angeled to Liberia (LIR) Daniel Oduber International Airport.
According to the Costa Rica Tourist Board (ICT), Alaska Airlines will use Boeing 737 aircrafts seating between 124 and 181 travelers. Flights will be available for purchase for the new Costa Rica routes starting 21 May 2015 pending approval by the Costa Rican civil aviation authorities.
This move follows the increasing availability of direct flights from US to Costa Rica to meet the demand from tourists and medical tourists. In March, Southwest Airlines began flights from Baltimore to San José.
