Entry Requirements for Costa Rica

Costa Rica does not require a negative coronavirus test.
Everyone must fill out the Health Pass form. This generates a QR code which can be printed or saved as a photo on your cellphone and shown to the airline at check in for your flight to Costa Rica. This needs to be completed within 72 hours before arrival in Costa Rica. A separate Health Pass is required for every adult and child traveling.
Unvaccinated or part vaccinated adults must also purchase Travelers Medical Insurance for the duration of their stay in Costa Rica.
Qualifying vaccines are 2 doses of AstraZeneca, Pfizer or Moderna or one dose of Johnson & Johnson. Adults must show proof of complete vaccination with the final dose being at least 14 days before arriving in Costa Rica. For visitors from the USA, a photo of the COVID-19 vaccination record can be uploaded into the Health Pass
Children under 18 do not require vaccines or Travelers Medical Insurance
Travelers Medical Insurance can be purchased from pre-approved providers in Costa Rica – INS (National Insurance Institute), Sagicor or BlueCross Blue Shield of Costa Rica.
Tourists who opt to buy a Travelers Medical Insurance policy outside Costa Rica must bring a letter showing
- Guaranteed coverage of medical expenses in the event of becoming ill with COVID-19 whilst in Costa Rica, for at least USD$50,000
- Minimum coverage of USD$2,000 for lodging expenses issued as a result of the pandemic
- Validity of the policy throughout the planned stay in Costa Rica
